Don't Wait!

Can you remember when your child was young and how they had a cute way of saying something?

My youngest, Tiffany, says the word SEED instead of SAW when she is talking.  It was really cute when she was younger, but now that she is in pre-school, I decided it was time to correct her speech.

The next time I heard her say, "Daddy, I seed a deer on the way home today!" I lovingly replied, "Tiffany, it's not seed, but we say, saw."

To that she said, "No Mommy, we say SEED!"

Ok, this was going to be more difficult than I had realized.

To read what happened next, hop on over to Titus 2 In Action, where I am posting this on my Parenting Pointers column.

Hey Sonya. I just did my thankful Thursday just a bit late but better late than never. I sometimes talk like that just to be funny but my children are old enough to know I am just playing around. My favorite thing to say to them is; Who learned you to talk like that? I know I learned you better than that. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I read this and it reminded of when my oldest daughter used to say will'nt for "will not" instead of "won't". I realized that her way of saying it actually followed the rules of the English language and that "won't" was the deviation from that rule. I think that works the same with "seed". It's funny how toddlers learn those rules just by listening to us, and it's just when our words don't go along with the rules that they get it wrong. I love how your handling it with her. Thanks for sharing this.
Blessings,
Marcia
