Turtle Tuesday

Over the past few weeks, I've been spending my Tuesday's over at Bhisgirls place. She does a really fun Turtle Tuesday's post each week. Last week she even had her turtle get involved in the election process - Go McCain!

So, a few weeks ago, after reading her Turtle Tuesday post and then Edie's link I got a phone call that there was a turtle on our driveway. What a coincidence that was. So, being curious as to what God was doing, I decided to take my crew for a walk to play with the turtle. :)

We had fun with the little guy and my animal lover held him. At first he didn't seem to care about all the attention. Then, he seemed to be feeling a bit shy and he retreated into his shell. We pondered all of this and decided that he had a plan, or a mission he was on and we were distrating him. Kind of like our lives in Christ and the world distracting us. We need to learn to shut out the world when we realize it is keeping us from our calling!

Then we just left him alone and stared at him for a few minutes. At some point, he came out of his shell and no matter which direction we turned him in (yes we were antagonizing him) he would turn around and march into the correct direction. He never lost sight of his objective! Oh how we need to be that way in Christ as well.

The final observation was made by my son. He said that clearly turtles are slow to anger. :) Loving Turtle Tuesdays!

Sonya, I love your turtle post! To be focused on His mission and not all the things trying to distract us, is of upmost importance! Marching to His heartbeat step by step. Thanks for adding to Turtle Tuesdays. :)

Isn't it amazing how sometimes the animals are more in tune with God's purpose than we are?

Great post!

I love your heart for Jesus girl!

Love you too!

I needed to hear this- the part about distraction and not being quick to anger and keeping my sense of direction no matter who tries to turn me another way. Thank you!

What a Great turtle lesson Sonya! I love what God teaches us through his animals. They obey Him without question. Like your little friend here, who must have been on a mission from God and would let nothing stop him from obeying.

I grew up with turtles, which is why I like them so much. Your post also shows that Mr Turtle has quite his own personality. That is so cool.

I suppose now is not the time to mention that I accidentally ran over a turtle once....Loved your post today! Notice that he couldn't move forward in that direction until he came out of his shell, saw the path, and got moving! Just like our walk with God. Get out of our shell, get on the path, and get goin'!

Turtles if only you knew what they mean to me. There's a deep God story with them in my heart. Thank you for sharing yours. I'm writing mine in my shame book...

Thank you for speaking powerfully into my life about adoption. I'm listening. Your words touch me.

Great Post, yes if we could go in the direction we are suppose to go life would be great! The shell is a great shield and if we would just peek beyond we will also head in the right direction.
Great post to ponder for the day!
Good Job!
