Balancing Act

Ever feel like you don't have enough time in the day to complete everything? I think this is a struggle for all of us from time to time. In raising my family, I'm finding that there are so many good things to get involved in. There's sports, horseback riding, music lessons, dance lessons, home school co-ops, church work, volunteering, friends and family! Good grief, no wonder so many of us are burned out!

With six children, I am amazed at the pressure that's out there to let them get involved in all of these different activities. But you know, if my kids each got involved in a separate event, I'd be running at least six times a week! That's just too much time out and about.

There is a fine line that we must walk in today's fast paced society. God wants us to use our talents for His glory, but we need to be acutely aware of His timing. I've been struggling to find that balance lately. But with God's help, and a willing heart, I know I will find that balance.

Proverbs 11:1 A false balance is an abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

You hit the nail on the head. This has been a struggle for me to, as you know. I know we can find that balance and bring encouragement to each other's life. I have to tell you that your persistance, enthusiasm and love of God is a constant blessing to me. Thank you for being a part of our writer's group. I always look forward to hearing from you.

I love your bible verse - it complements your writing so much. AND the graphic is great! I love the baby she is holding LOL!!!

It's true - society things we stay home moms are on the sofa eating bon-bons, and the truth is we're in the car eating drive-thru!!! We never stop going.

What a great reminder to lead a balanced lifestyle. AND John Rosemond (parenting guru) says that kids shouldn't be involved in all those things. That makes the family child-centered around one child. Tis better to do group activities.

Hang in there. You are doing great!

You surely have your hands full, but you are doing a great job.
You will find some normal time pretty soon!
But what a great reminder of having more balance in our daily lives.
Thanks for sharing
Blessings to you

I can't believe I've never seen that Proverb before! This was an area of INTENSE work that God and I went through some years back. Thankfully, it's one that I've been able to maintain pretty well, since, but is something that is SO important in our current culture.

A lot of wisdom in your words, friend.

A lot of wisdom in GOD'S Words!

Happy Thanksgiving!

You are so right about it being a balancing act. So many times we forget to commit our day and our priorities to Him.

I sometimes wonder if I should've been born in a previous time. I struggle so much with the culture of today and the constant busyness. I join in with hesitation. I want my kids to experience a variety of activities, but I don't like being overly busy. I value the creative mind and having down time to play and explore. I value family time. Drives to the mountains, movie or game nights.

Currently, my 10th grader is in basketball at school. My daughter has her one day a week activities with piano and dance and Y ball. I'm not sure what the balance is. I believe with much prayer God will help us as parents make the best decision for our families. There is not a right or wrong answer that works for all.

Great convo again!

Thanks..

Oh yeah, too much on the schedule makes for a frazzled woman. Why do I do that to myself, I wonder? This time of year w/ all the events and plans...Thanks for the encouragement to find the balance!

'Seeing the picture, I couldn't help but think about the term "Gumshoe" - another title for private detective!
