Cheerleaders

When I was a young girl I was on the cheerleading squad at my Christian school. It was a fun job and I felt that we were able to help our team by raising their spirit's and cheering them on!

Now, I'm 41 years old and a homeschool mom of six. Lately, I've been having some trouble with discouragement with homeschooling and other areas of my life. How did I get through all of this? The first thing I did was to turn to God, then my husband. You see, my husband is my cheerleader. This combination got me through and now things are looking hopeful again.

I found myself talking to a group of women at our homeschool coop last week and found out that they are also going through seasons of discouragement. They pointed out that they can't confide in some of their friends or family members because they don't understand homeschooling and may not be encouraging. One woman said that if it hadn't been for her husband being her cheerleader, she probably wouldn't be schooling her kids today.

This made sense to me. Cheerleaders are not just for sports games, we all need cheerleaders in our lives. Not the kind with pom pom's (although the candy kind wouldn't hurt!), but the encouraging kind. So, do you have cheerleaders in your life? Who are they? I'd love for you to leave me a comment, letting me know who your cheerleaders are.

This is great, I love this post, you put a smile on my face this morning, OHHH yes the hubby's can be our cheerleaders for sure, but my main cheerleader is God, he cheers me on through out the day, as long as I stay focused, as soon as I slip, my team starts losing, and I have no pompoms to shake.
Yes, I think this is when my Hubby steps in and gives me that GIVE ME A ~~~~~~ and the joy is right back, and it's funny he always seem to know when too.
:) Have a Blessed day my friend

I refer to my husband as the great equalizer. Not only does he cheer me on, but he helps me set reasonable boundaries which does much to cut down on discouragement.

I also have some wonderful friends, both homeschooling and non-homeschooling who help so much.

Weird as it sounds, it was nice to read on your blog that others are feeling discouraged too. I thought something was wrong with me and everybody else was happy. I guess misery truly does love company! LOL!

For some encouragement, read my blog post for today.

May God surround you with His perfect "resources" to bring you encouragement during this hard time. Praying for you my friend! And praying for your husband too!

I've definitely needed cheerleaders, Sonya, to help me along in my writing journey. My own little family as well as my extended family have been wonderful cheerleaders for me. My close friends and my Bible study group have always been there for me, too. And in the past couple of years, I've met many other writers through writing groups as well as blogging, and their support and fellowship have been invaluable. Yea, cheerleaders!! :)

I have different cheerleaders in different areas of my life. My husband is a great cheerleader for my writing! My friends encourage me in parenting and marriage.

Of course you have always been a great encourager to me! Thanks!

I am blessed to have many cheerleaders in my life. My husband is one of the biggest!! My children are too. Also, my girlfriends are always lifting me up. And, by the way, you and Chatty Kelly and Joanne over at Onesoblessed are good cheerleaders for me since the She Speaks conference. God is good to me!!

I just wanted to cheer you on today as you stay the course!! I homeschooled my daughter off and on from middle school until graduation. It was TOUGH but God and the Cheerleaders He sent my way helped me through. She is now a Sophomore in college and serving Him with all she has.

Blessings to you girl! You've Got What it Takes,
Pat

I just wanted you to know that I lost all my favorite bookmarked blogs and have spent an hour searching for your URL! I have missed your words of wisdom. I knew the title but couldn't think that there would be a 4 in it. I will be back regularly. :)
