Hershey, More than Meets the Eyes (or Tummy!)
Authors Note: Those are actual chocolate bars, the cost: $49.99 each! We put them back after photographing!
We had a fun family vacation at the end of last week, we drove up to Hershey, PA. To state the obvious, we ate way too much chocolate, mmmmmm! The most important part of our journey, was the trolley ride. It was all about the man named, Milton Hershey.
If you don't know about him, look him up - you won't be disappointed. He went bankrupt several times before he began making money at candy making. Perseverance was the theme of his life. That's the one common thread I see in studying great inventors, they are willing to persevere in the face of defeat.
Hershey was also a great humanitarian. Not able to bear their own kids, Milton and his wife, Kitty, started a home for fatherless boys in PA. It grew into a school which is thriving to this day! The entire town is devoted to those underprivileged children and he left his entire fortune to the running of the homes and the school. Here's a statistic to consider: last year their graduating class of seniors ALL went on to college somewhere. They are obviously doing something right.
Ok, on to the fun of Hershey, a picture is worth 1,000 words:
If you've never been to Hershey, what are you waiting for?

So, you were actually right up the road from me!!
I've been to Hershey quite a few times. There's a lot to see and do besides the chocolate, so I guess you'll need to make another trip!!
The butterfly garden is absolutely worth another drive north!!

Oh my, even though it is a short trek from my home - I think it is best to stay away from super-sized chocolate bars and life-sized jugs of liquid chocolate! I would be forever lost in a chocolate haze! Glad you had fun!
Shalom,
Denise
That looks pretty tempting!
Sounds like "yummy" fun. Great to see you yesterday. Blessings and prayers on your continued journey, andrea
I am really thinking this morning there is a reason I am living on the other side of the country!! HA! This girl could NOT be that close to that much yummy chocolate!
What a fun trip!
Looks like you all had a blast! Chocolate heaven! Well, can't wait to hear more.
See you in the morning! Yaahoo!
I'm very familiar with Hershey, PA. I went to Hershey park several times growing up as a PA Dutch child. I'm now in the south, but my Mom and StepDad still live in the area.
Don't you just love the say the street lights look like Hershey Kisses?
Gotta love Mr. & Mrs. Hershey.
Have a blessed week.
Love these BIG bars od chocolate. Heavenly place!
Thanks for sharing.
