Fatih of a Child

In doing the Beth Moore study, Believing God, I've been digging deep down to see if my faith is real and if it's grounded in the scriptures.

One thing I'm supposed to do, is say the 5 step statement of faith. Statement number four is, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

On the surface, that statement sounds easy. When you get down to the realities of life, fear and doubt seem to be lurking behind every new door!

Recently, I had a chance to listen as my two nine year old daughters were having a conversation about their upcoming birthdays and what kind of party they wanted to have. Here's how the conversation went:

Val, "I was thinking that I'd like to have the entire home school coop over for a cookout on my birthday." (There are 100 children in our coop!)

Val, "But then I thought, no, because it would be too hard for mom." (bless that girl!)

Steph, "Val, if Mom can raise six kids, she can do ANYTHING!"

The faith of a child! I guess it's all in perspective, isn't it! The truth is, I have only been able to raise my six children because of God and His love and grace. Based on that fact, He will help me in any situation. Apparently, I need to get back to having a faith like a little child.

Does that mean you're having 100 kids to your house?? LOL!!!

What a sweet comment by Steph. My husband often says things like that about you too!

You are a remarkable woman. But I can see God's fingerprints all over you. And I think that is what makes you the most remarkable.

Wow, looks like you have a 100 kid party to give! Super mom indeed! I agree with Chatty Kelly you do have God's fingerprints all over you and you can see it in the fruits of your life! You are indeed a Super Mom and a Mom who loves God, who makes you super!

Hi Sonya. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the encouragnement.
And also, I enjoyed reading this post. It was great encouragement also. I need to remember my 5 statement pledge of faith!!!!

ALso - you are an encouragement yourself....you've had 6 kids? This is my 4th and part of my fear comes from it being #4 and from my being "much older" than last time -- although the much older is just in my head because it has only been 3 1/2 years.
THANKS again!

You know that fourth statement is the hardest one for me, because, well, it involves ME! I have to be the one that acts on that statement and fleshes it out, and I'm the one who chooses if it is a reality in my life. God's provided the strength through the sacrifice of His Son, but it's up to me to claim and receive it. Truly, it IS the faith of a child we need to embrace as our own, instead of cowering in the uncertainty of our adult minds.

Thanks for the reminder, and thanks for your sweet words of encouragement over in my little corner of blogdom! It's so nice to see you there. :o)

Love to you this day,
Melinda

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me! I read your post on the Internet Cafe and was planning on coming on over to visit you!!

Losing the glasses--yes, it upset me because I couldn't see to find them. I wasn't in the same place I am now spiritually at that time.

Now, I know what it means to live by faith and not by sight--not that this is easy by any means!!

And yes, I looked under the bed for the card--not there either!!

If you get a chance, stop back and read "Darkness Into Light". It's my testimony of faith.

Good luck with that party of 100 kids!!
