Known by the Fruit

Matthew 7:20  "Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

What kind of fruit does a Christian produce?  I have spent many hours pondering that thought.  And in one moment, my sweet, young, four year old, Tiffany gave me the answer:

My Tuesday morning Bible study group had just let out for the day, so I went to pick up Tiffany from the childcare room downstairs.  Thinking ahead, I took her to the bathroom before running errands.  While there, she said to me, "Mom, all of the kids here are NOT Christians!"

This statement threw me and I said, "Sure they are."

"Look, Mom, let me tell you why they aren't Christians. First, when we went to the gym to play, some of the girls kept trying to tackle me. Next, one boy took my necklace and tried to keep it away from me, even after I asked him to give it back to me! So you see, they aren't Christians!"

There it was...The simple answer to the above scripture. If they were Christians, certainly their fruit would have been different. The girls would have been nice and the boy would have been considerate. I am amazed that at the young age of four, children already see the fruit of Christianity.

I most certainly had been trying to complicate the scripture when in fact, it was as simple as just treating others kindly.

If we will truly listen, to the children, God speaks to us.

My husband often tells me, Yolanda, think like the children.

Lovingly,

Sonya,

Ah how wise the children truly are by the lessons we can learn from them.

This is so true. Despite all the problems that my youngest is having in school his teachers say he is the kindest most considerate child they have ever met and that really makes me feel great. I am up and running this morning,

Take care,
Greg

Ho! Children sure sut to the chase!

Tell you another story about young children: we used to live near a Mission Station in Africa and on the station there was a MK school, many families living, a Bible College and a Hospital. There were times when the Doctors felt that their patients were ill with spiritual things and there were times they felt that more than average prayer was needed. Well one doctor was inspired by the verse 'let the children come to me, do not hinder them, for unto such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven' to believe that children have a special place in the heart of God. So, when he had a particularly difficult problem, patient, illness, whatever, he would go up to the little people in school and ask for their prayers for the day, and particularly this person and that. He gave them no detailes, of course, just names. And he over and over testified to the power of the children's prayer! The miracles he saw in the Hospital over and over when he involved the kids. He would keep them informed on the progress of 'their' patients and they prayed their hearts out and KNEW they were doing God's work.

It was amazing to hear him, and hear the children and teachers. Yup! Children cut to the chase!!!
