Proverbs 27:9 (NIV) "Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel."
Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NIV) "If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"
John 15:13 (NIV) "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
What is a friend? From the scriptures above, a friend loves always, a friend gives good counsel, a friend helps friends up, and a friend will lay down their life for another friend.
That's a tall order - but the benefits of having good friends is priceless!
Having friends will take time, and effort, and the ability to trust. Take the time to call your friends or email them today.

I have many 'casual' friends and acquaintances but only three close friends, friends I trust with anything and everything. Throughout my life, I've suffered some great losses -- my first wife died of cancer, my little daughter died last year of cancer. I myself had it (Hodgkins) and survived, at least so far. Through this my comfort was my God and my friends. I shall ever be thankful that they are always there for me.

Great post, Sonya! I love all the scriptures that you listed. There is nothing quite so priceless as those close friendships. But they are a 2-way sreet, but SO worth the effort! ...indeed, "there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother"
