Monday afternoon I decided to go to the gym. It has been a long time since I went to the gym and worked out.
I knew that if I went to the gym I'd be sore for the next couple of days, and that would make me extra tired! Being sore and tired also makes me feel irritable and more easily angered.
Knowing all of this, why did I go? Good question! Actually, I decided that I wanted to be healthier, and have more energy.
Isn't it ironic that in order to become healthier and feel better and have a more level attitude I have to make a sacrifice of all of those things for a short period of time!
There's a lot of talk out there about doing hard things - these things are sacrifices and as long as you keep the goal in front of you, you'll be able to persevere.
I have to go back to the gym today, and I don't want to!! I'm so tired and sore that I can't imagine exercising again. Since I have my goal in front of me, I will go and suffer through this workout. Very soon I will start to enjoy my workouts without the pain of being sore and tired. That's when it will all be worth it.
Are you facing hard things in your life today? Is there a goal that you have that is driving you to persevere? I'd love to hear about it. :)
John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone; but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit.

I just want to cheer you on about going to the gym. Your right, it's hard at first but the outcome is good health.
I workout about 4 to 5 days a week for the last 15 years and I hate it.So let's do it together even if it's hard. :)
I needed to hear this. Thank you! Rah rah rah (That's me in your cheering section).
The "hard thing" I'm facing is also my lack of love for all things exercise. I'm trying to stay committed, but I just don't like it (even though my body likes it when I do it).
However, the Lord has plainly told me that I won't be up to the task that He has for me if I don't take care of myself. So I soldier on...
Hugs to you this day,
Melinda
Seems like everything that is "good" for you is hard to do (exercise, quiet time, etc.) yet the bad things are easy to do (veg out in front of the tv, eat sweets - or salty fatty - snacks).
Yet - in the long run, the "hard" things do in fact make life easier. So true! Yet, so hard to motivate towards.
Praying for strength for you at the gym!
Chatty Kelly's comment was so right on. I have heard the saying "If it was easy, everyone would do it! (whatever your 'it' is)
I know the Lord wanted me to see your post. Thanks for poking me Sonya:)
I'm cheering you on with Bonita!
Dying to self in order to bring forth much fruit is something that I can only do in Christ's power. I put forth all that I have to cooperate with Him. Thank you Sonya!
Hey Sis..
Come over I have 2 awards for *U*.

Good for you for taking this big step!
My hard thing right now is committing to visit the chiropractor to get my neck & spine back into shape. I HATE going, because (1) it's far away, (2) it costs money, (3) it costs my most precious commodity: TIME.
But if, like you, I perservere, then the problems from a car-accident four years ago won't keep getting worse.
So tomorrow I will keep my appointment, knowing that the short-term pain and inconvenience will mean nothing once I feel better!
Just think, soon we'll both be in great shape! YAY! :)
Have you gotten the "Do the Hard things" book by the Harris boys? It is awesome and will be a must read as for your kids as they get older.
